Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20 1964. She is an American politician. She is the first woman to hold the vice presidency and the highest-ranking female official in U.S history. As a member the Democratic Party, she was the former attorney general of California in 2011-2017 and a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. After that, she was enlisted to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. She was elected Attorney-General of California in 2010 and was reelected in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sánchez during the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as senator in the United States Senate. Harris was a senator and campaigned for reforms to healthcare and federal cannabis de-scheduling. She also advocated for a pathway to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented, the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She is most famous for her direct questions to Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
